vs
Kowloon
Staying in Hong Kong and considering the difference
between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon? Both have
advantages of course and while we feel that Hong Kong
Island is better in total than Kowloon Side you may
disagree if something on Kowloon is of particular
interest.
Pro Hong Kong Island |
Pro Kowloon Side |
- Major attractions like Victoria Peak and Stanley Market
are on HK side
- Best non-touristy but non-local friendly shopping in
Wanchai and Causeway Bay
- Central Walkway system means a lot of areas can be
covered on foot
- A mix of parks, skyscrapers, traditional Chinese,
British Colonial and built up and rural areas all in a small
area
- Best access to ferries for Outlying Islands or side
trips to Kowloon
|
- Hotels and tourist facilities well developed
particularly around Nathan Road
|
Con Hong Kong Island |
Con Kowloon Side |
- Needs to cross the harbour to see other parts of the
region
- Lack of very cheap accommodation
|
- Overall more down market than HK
- Tourist traps abound on Nathan Road with touts and
reproduction watches.
