Hotels on Hong Kong Island
As both a major tourist destination and one of the top business cities in the world there are of course no shortage of hotels in Hong Kong. And that includes a wide range from 5 star luxury and named brands, through to budget acommodation and everything in between. With new brands and quirky local boutiques opening every day there is a constant supply of new and interesting places to stay on Hong Kong Island, and of course just across the harbour in Kowloon there are even more choices.
For long stays the choices in long term hotel rooms, serviced apartments or just short term flat rental is large. Catering to both business people on long projects and to visitors who just are not ready to leave the delights of Hong Kong island these are plentiful but often well booked in advance so don't delay in checking availability today.
Luxury
The Mandarin Oriental - The original Mandarin Oriental is right in the middle of the Central business district, just minutes walk from the Exchange Square which houses the stock exchange, the International Finance Centre, but just as close the trendy eateries and nightspots of Lan Kwai Fong.
Island Shangri-La - One of three hotels at Pacific Place Mall in Admiralty this luxury hotel overlooks the Hong Kong Park on one side and Victoria Harbour on the other. With first rate amenities and indoor connection to the Mall and the Island Line of the MTR system it is a great place to stay on a shopping holiday.
The 4 Seasons - This luxury hotel (pictured) is above the IFC Mall, connected internally to International Finance Center I and II, and across the walkway from the Exchange Square complex which holds the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In the opposite direction it is beside the Central Ferry Piers which include the Star Ferry Pier and the Pier 6 to Lantau. Inside the building are also the AirportExpress Hong Kong train station, in-town check in for all airlines, and Hong Kong MTR station for local transfer.
A more convenient and luxurious hotel would be hard to imagine, even without considering the Michelin starred restaurants.
L'hotel Island South - Escape the built up commercial north of Hong Kong island for the quieter residential South Side with this large yet boutique style hotel. Convenient for Aberdeen fishing village, Ocean Park Theme Park, Repulse Bay swimming beach and the CyberPort high tech complex this hotel will leave you relaxed and refreshed. Great for a quiet sightseeing trip.
Different
Bridal Teahouse Hotel - This Hong Kong Chain specializes in small and quirky hotels in interesting districts. Try their branch in Sai Ying Pun or the one in Aberdeen for a unique experience. While rooms are small if you are spending time out sightseeing each day then the very reasonable pricing and the unique feel of these hotels is worth a try to see how much of Hong Kong lives in a very tiny space.
The Stanley Oriental Hotel - Uniquely located in Stanley Village it is a moments walk to the world famed Stanley Market, and rooms overlook Stanley Main Beach, Murray Building and the Queen's Pier - some of the most popular tourist attractions of Hong Kong island just steps away from your hotel. Combined with the excellent dining choices both in the hotel and on the seafont of Stanley and this is a perfect quiet getaway from the busy rush of the city.
Y-loft - Designed to provide accommodation for young people on a budget this spacious hotel managed to achieve low cost by being at the far end of the Chai Wan MTR line, which means it is a 20 minute trip into the city centre. But that small inconvenience is greatly made up for by the freedom to stay on in Hong Kong even when money is limited!
Mira Moon - A designer hotel designed by designers, and best appreciated by those who enjoy design, this brand new (2013) hotel in the entertainment hot spot of Wanchai is managed by the Miramar group.
